

MURIEL J. STALEY, age 93 died peacefully on the evening of October 18th at Panorama City in Olympia, WA. She was born in Seattle, Washington on May 19, 1919, to Clarence W. and Elsie E. Holderman. The family moved to Hoquiam, Washington when she was eleven.
She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1938. She met and married Eugene G. Staley in Ashland, Oregon on January 25th 1939. They left Ashland shortly after and settled in Camas, Washington. At the end of World War II they moved to Hoquiam. In 1964 they bought a resort business in Westport Washington where they owned and operated a RV park for six years.
After the death of her husband, Muriel moved with two of her children to Olympia to work in the State Legislature. She retired from the Senate on December 31, 1988. She was an avid gardener and a dedicated writer of creative fiction.
Survivors include two sons, David Staley of San Pedro, CA., and Leonard Staley of Olympia, her daughter, Lauren Staley of Mercer Island, WA., 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on October 29th at 10:00 AM at Mills and Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater, WA. 5725 Littlerock Road SW. Burial will be in the family plot at Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam.
She was a mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
