Patti was born in Olympia, WA at the "old" St. Peter's Hospital to Clarence and Verna Ware. She passed away at Providence St. Peter's Hospital, at the age of 75, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Our hearts are heavy and filled with sadness but also grateful for the love and time we had together.
Patti was a lifelong resident of the Olympia area. Her family lived on Bigelow Road and Friendly Grove Road before moving to Long Lake in the 1960s. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1966. She worked for many years for the State of Washington, including starting out doing keypunch, working at the Boxing Commission/Department of Licensing, and retiring in 2008 from the Washington State Attorney General's Office (worked for the Ethics Board and Government Operations). Patti made lifelong friends at work and has cherished those relationships over the years.
Patti adored her family and was so proud of them. She loved spending time together (and seeing pictures if she could not be there in person). Those times were never enough, and we all wish we could have spent more time together. We have great memories of all the times spent at the "lake" with our grandparents/family or taking trips in the motorhome. (Don't ask Carrie to re-enact their rendition of songs from the Sound of Music from the motor home bunk beds while Scotty was trying to sleep.) She loved spending time with all of our pets over the years and was the best "grandma" and sitter to her grandpuppies/kitties. Patti expressed sadness that she wouldn't be able to see her adored grandchildren grow up and share their experiences. She wanted to make sure we remembered that she would miss us and that she is in heaven watching and loving us and always will be.
Patti is one of the best and most thoughtful listeners, helpers, and gift givers. She would hear of someone liking something or wishing for something and would do her best to make that wish come true. She was the best sounding board and always had an "opinion"/solution to share. Patti had a great sense of humor and always added her little bits of sarcasm or something witty to say.
Some of our favorite memories were when we would laugh together to the point of hysterics (which is not safe while you are driving together or apart). She liked to sign her messages, notes and cards as "TSO" (The sweet one) or "YSM" (your sweet mom), etc. paired with her adorable Bitmoji image (if you received a text from her you know what we are describing.) Patti liked to let you know when she had a "feeling" about someone or something and she was usually correct. She did her best to make things easier for her family by being organized and prepared. We appreciate that thoughtfulness.
Patti enjoyed creating and doing crafts and tried to be prepared with a fun activity to do with the grandkids and those times were precious to her. She had many hobbies over the years: crocheting, painting rocks, making seasonal decorations (who remembers the cute little snowmen, pot-pourri dolls?), working with/arranging flowers, gardening, and reading. She crocheted over 100 washcloths that were included with much needed toiletries as part of a project for needy women. She supported the "under-dog" figuratively and literally, supporting causes and charities, especially focused on children, women, and animals as much as she could. Patti had very special friends that she could count on for help and companionship, not to mention the bonus of a "special delivery" of her favorite triple shot Americano so she could sip on it throughout the day. She also enjoyed playing cards and video games. Patti always wished she could have done more travelling. She did get to see Pat Benatar in concert and went to Las Vegas to see Cher (bucket list items) • Patti's all-time favorite place was the beach (Washington and Oregon coasts), hearing it, seeing it (even in pictures), walking in the sand, and hunting for shells, rocks, and driftwood (with a crafty plan for her treasures of course.
Patti is survived by her 2 children, daughter Carrie (Hurn) Salnave (Hans), son Christopher (Chris) Hurn (Natasha), 3 nephews Ryan Ware (Kristina), Dylan and Dakota Ware, 3 granddaughters Kyla (Hurn) Bailey-Wilson (Devin), Kara (Hurn) Vassar (Zack), and Olivia Hurn, and 5 great grandchildren Avery, Jaxon, Scarlett, Casen, and Fenyx, and of course her most beloved Murphy aka
"the little prince" (and grandpuppies Chip and Bibi). She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Verna Ware and brothers Bobby and Scotty (and her beloved kitties Josie and Jasmine, grandkitties Lily and Ivy, and grandpuppy Baxter). We know they are enjoying being together again and catching up on all of the stories, laughter and love.
