Ralph Edward Still Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021, at his home at Colonial Inn in Olympia, WA. He was born December 31, 1946, in New Madrid, Missouri, to Charlie and Mary Still. He was the oldest of five children. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed on the USS Forrestal off the coast of Vietnam and was on board when it caught fire on July 29, 1967. When he finished his tour of duty, he moved to Long Beach, California to be with his family and it was there that he met his forever sweetheart, Linda. They started a family and eventually moved to Bakersfield. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, and together they had countless adventures across the country in their RV. Ultimately, Ralph and Linda moved to Washington to be near family and enjoy the Pacific Northwest. With his quirky sense of humor, he made friends quickly at Colonial Inn and was active in many events and activities.
He was passionate about his St. Louis Cardinal baseball team, and always had a ball game on. He was also probably one of Pepsi’s biggest fans. To say he “loved” Pepsi, would be an understatement, and he was never without one. Ralph was also a man of simple pleasures. He was the type of man that didn’t need the best, but treated what he had as if it was the best. He loved the Lord, his family, and his country.
Ralph is preceded by his parents, and three siblings. He is survived by his wife, Linda Still; son, Ralph Still Jr.; son, Wayne Still and his wife Jessica; sister, Darlene Correa and her husband Walter; 3 grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ralph’s final resting place will be in Kent, WA. His urn will be placed in a niche at the Tahoma Veteran’s Cemetery and a small service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10:00 am.
