Robert Zimmerman

Robert Zimmerman passed away on August 26, 2020 in Olympia, Washington. Born to the parents of Albert Zimmerman and Metha Schumacher on January 16, 1934 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He was their 3rd child and brother to Patricia, Forrest, and Allen. Robert Graduated Central High School in 1952.

While attending South Dakota State University Robert received his Bachelors in Forestry as well as Counseling and joining the ROTC program before graduating in 1956. On May 26, 1957 Robert married the love of his life, Marjorie Clemenson, in Conde, South Dakoda. He retired from the US Army after 20 years of dedicated service ranking as a Lieutenant Colonel. During that time Robert served two tours one of which being in Korea and the other Vietnam.

During Roberts’s time in the service both he and his family spent 9 years in Germany. After the Army, Robert was a man of many trades. From being a Food Service Manager, Polygraph Technician, to Real Estate and even owning his own business. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the races and betting on his favorite horses, playing golf, and spending his winters in lovely Palm Springs.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Albert Zimmerman and Metha Schumacher, brother, Allen Zimmerman, and sister, Patricia Zerr. Robert is survived by his brother, Forrest Zimmerman, two children, Steve Zimmerman and Lori Chruscielski, five grandsons, Jesse Rhoden, Shawn Rhoden, Jake Zimmerman, Jordan Zimmerman Alec Zimmerman, and one great-grandchild Aisling Rhoden.
