CELEBRATION OF LIFE - SATURDAY APRIL 6, 2024, at 1pm - details below.
It has taken me some time to write this, it all happened so fast, dad was with us, and we were talking about after hospital care, and then things took a turn, and it became time for him to move on from our lives. With the help of my sister and family I am writing this in his memory. We love you all, Michele.
Ronald Keith Gronzo was born in Peoria, Illinois to Gordon Keith Gronzo and Marcella Dee Rosencrans (aka Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Gronzo), on March 1, 1946. He was in the military, Army division, for a short time after high school and left with an honorable discharge. He then met Elizabeth Anne Busch, better known as Betty Anne. They married November 27, 1965, and were together until her passing on May 30, 2017. Ron continued to reside in Olympia, playing many a Farkle game with Charlene, Dave, & Kurtis (sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and nephew), until his recent move to his most favorite place, Quinault, WA. He was so excited and happy to move onto his brother Pat’s property, watch the deer, elk, and eagles, he absolutely loved to be out in nature, and this gave him that opportunity.
Ron and Betty are together again and with their son Ronnie, who passed away as a young child due to a medical condition. They are now survived by their daughters, Michele and Brenda, along with their nephew Pat, who filled a very special place in their hearts. Ron was the oldest of the Gronzo clan of five children, and is survived by Joe, Pat, Anita, and Kevin, and all our families respectively, please keep us all in your thoughts as we move forward.
Ron was also known to many family and friends as Papa, Great Papa, Pops, Dad, Uncle, Big Ron, Big Guy, Buddy, and let’s not forget Fireman from his Steilacoom days before moving to Olympia. In addition to his children and siblings, he leaves behind his grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many many good friends, hunting buddies to be sure, and his best buddy Jim, or Prowler, as I fondly recall from my childhood of camping and listening to the CB and Ham radio days.
These last six years he continued his hunting trips with the “boys” and had many more camping trips with family and friends. He was always the first one to camp, asking what took us so long??!! Nice to be retired dad! He loved to drive into “town” to stop in and see the crew at Billy Bob's Offroad too.
I didn’t want to have this be a book so I will stop here. Please share your stories and memories of Ron with us too.
We would love for you to please join us Saturday April 6, 2024 at 1pm at the VFW 318 in Lacey, WA. As per our mom and dad’s request this will be a Celebration of Life, potluck style. So please come, share your memories, tell your stories, say hi, and visit old friends too!
We look forward to seeing you there.
Michele, Brenda, & Pat
