Timothy Shawn Simpson, age 58, was found on August 8th in Olympia, WA. Though his journey through life was marked by challenges, he was deeply loved and will be remembered for more than his struggles.
Born in Olympia, WA, Tim was known for his sharp wit, sense of humor, athleticism and a heart that cared deeply – even when it was hard for him to show it. He had a love for sports and music and those who knew him will remember the light he could bring into a room.
Addiction is a difficult road, and while it created distance at times, it never erased the bond of family or the hope that healing was possible. Tim fought battles many will never understand and though he was often far from those who loved him, he remained in our hearts.
He is survived by his brothers Darren Roderick, Ahmad Davis and Hal Solum; sisters Kamala Andrews, Kristine Brown, Lynn Schrank and Kimberly Showalter; and many nieces, nephews and extended family who grieve his loss and remember the man he was before addiction took hold. While we mourn, we also choose to remember Tim for the moments of joy, laughter and love he gave.
A public memorial will be held by the family on Thursday, August 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA.
Donations in honor of Tim’s life can be made to your favorite charity or the Thurston County Food Bank.
