Alina Jorge Lopes

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alina Jorge Lopes, age 87, of Turlock, California, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Alina spent the last 52 years of her life in Turlock, where she built a loving home.

Alina was born in Flamengos, Faial, Azores, Portugal, to Rosa Palmira Dias and Manuel Silveira Dias. In 1961, she married the love of her life, João A. Lopes. In 1969, seeking a better life for their family, Alina and João made the brave decision to leave their home in Portugal and move to the United States, bringing their 6-year-old daughter Lina with them. They settled in Turlock, where they created lasting memories and spent the next 52 years.

Alina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, João; her parents, Manuel and Rosa; and her siblings, Manuel, Rogério, José, António, Alfred, Luís, Rosa, and Maria. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Lina Lopes, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her deeply.

Alina was a woman of deep faith, and her daily prayers and devotion to the rosary were a constant part of her life. She was a proud parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock, where her faith was an anchor. Alina was also a long-time member of the Sociedade Portuguesa Rainha Santa Isabel, P.F.S.A., and Luso-American.

Outside of her faith, Alina enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including crocheting, and she found joy in trips to the casino. Alina was passionate about helping others, dedicating her time to volunteering and donating to the local food box. But above all, Alina's greatest joy was caring for her daughter Lina, whom she loved deeply.

A visitation for Alina will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave, Turlock, CA 95380. A recitation of the rosary and funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM at the same location. Alina will then be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.

A Sra. Lopes nasceu nos Flamengos, ilha do Faial, Açores, Portugal, filha de Rosa Palmira Dias e Manuel Silveira Dias.

A Sra. Lopes deixa de luto a sua filha, Lina Lopes, de Turlock, assim como muitos sobrinhos e sobrinhas.

Foi precidida na morte pelo o seu esposo, João A. Lopes; os seus pais, Manuel Silveira Dias e Rosa Palmira Dias; e os seus irmãos Manuel Dias, Rogério Dias, José Dias, Alfred Dias, António Dias, Luís Dias, Rosa Clementina e Maria Dias.

A Sra. Lopes era paroquiana da Igreja Católica do Sagrado Coração em Turlock e membro da Sociedade Portuguesa Rainha Santa Isabel, da P.F.S.A. e de Luso-American.

O velório realiza-se na quarta-feira, dia 21 de maio de 2025, das 9:00 às 10:00 da manhã na Igreja Católica do Sagrado Coração, localizada na 1200 Lyons Ave, Turlock, CA 95380. A recitação do terço e a missa de corpo presente seguir-se-ão às 10:00 da manhã, na Igreja Católica do Sagrado Coração, situada na 1200 Lyons Ave, Turlock, CA 95380, seguindo-se o sepultamento no Cemitério Memorial de Turlock, em 575 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.
