Betty was a devoted and delightfully “spoiled” wife to Gerald C. Harter, whom she deeply loved and cared for throughout their life together. Their marriage was filled with laughter, companionship, and joy.
Betty had a deep love for dancing, something that brought her great happiness throughout her life. Whether on a dance floor or simply in spirit, she carried that joy with her always. She often shared that she looked forward to the day she could dance once again with her beloved Gerry, a thought that brought her comfort and peace.
Known for her quick wit and playful spirit, Betty remained a jokester up to her very last moments, bringing smiles and laughter to those around her even in her final days. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts, one that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Betty had a deep love for travel and adventure, exploring the wonders of China, Egypt, and countries across Europe. These journeys gave her countless stories to share, each told with vivid detail and her signature charm.
Closer to home, Betty treasured her time playing bridge with her dear friends twice a week, a tradition that brought her joy and connection. These gatherings were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and lasting companionship.
Betty also found peace and happiness in the beauty of nature. She especially enjoyed watching animals, with a fondness for birds, and was fascinated by elephants and the beauty and wonder of the natural world. Whether in her backyard or during her travels, she delighted in observing their grace and freedom.
Betty is survived by her son Gerald (Kim) Allen Harter; her daughter Karin (Larry) Eveslage; her son Tod (Melanie) Harter; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Cook Harter.
She will be laid to rest at Sutter Cemetery alongside her beloved husband in a private committal service.
Betty will be remembered for her lighthearted spirit, her deep love for those around her, and her ability to find joy in both life’s grand adventures and its quiet, everyday moments. It brings comfort to those who loved her to imagine her reunited with Gerry, her spirit light and joyful, dancing once more.
