April 28 1928 - July 26, 2022
On July 26th 2022 Claire Hornberger passed peacefully at her home in Turlock, California.
Born April 28th to William C & Mildred Felix, Claire was a graduate of the Notre Dame Academy in Alameda CA.
Shortly after graduation, Claire began working as a dental assistant in Oakland. Several years later and following the end of WWII, she met Dale Hornberger a US Marine and local Oakland resident. They were married June 19th 1948.
The couple honeymooned in Carmel, a favorite place of theirs through the years.
The couple spent the majority of their life in Castro Valley and San Ramon where they raised four boys, Gregg (deceased), Blair, Reed & Blake.
While living in Castro Valley in the 1960’s, Claire pursued her interest in singing that eventually put her on stage at the Paramount Theater in the musical South Pacific. Music was always a part of her daily life.
As the kids grew into the school years, Claire supported activities including PTA, The Children’s Home Society and shuttled the boys to various sporting, scouting and neighborhood activities.
During the 1970’s Claire opened & owned a bath boutique in Danville with a neighbor.
As the boys grew and moved on with their lives, Clare & Dale moved to Waterford, California to retire and build a modest almond orchard at their home. Working together in the almond orchard was some of their best years they enjoyed together.
Claire’s husband, Dale, passed away in 2020. Claire leaves us with a family of 4 boys, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren in California, Washington, Colorado and Oklahoma.
We love you mom and will think of you always.
