James is survived by his son, Brandon Hilton (Sarah); his son, Mason Teehee-Hilton; his extended son, Kyle Teehee; and his significant other, Cheryl Teehee. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Smith, his brother Lee Hilton; and his cherished grandchildren; Kason, Kanon, Kohen, Journey, Abigail, and Cadence, with one more grandchild on the way, due in June.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Denise Hilton; his daughter, Amanda Hilton; his parents, James and Beatrice Hilton; and his brother, Thomas Austin.
James lived life with a laid-back spirit, a stubborn streak, and a sense of humor that stayed with him through every season of life. He loved riding his Harleys, dirt-bike riding, and fishing—pastimes that brought him peace, joy, and unforgettable memories. Above all else, he was a wonderful father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family deeply. He was always willing to help anyone in need, often putting others before himself without hesitation.
A visitation will be held at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, located at 286 West Main Street, Turlock, CA 95380, on December 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A graveside service will follow at Denair Cemetery, 2501 E. Zeering Road, Denair, CA 95316, on December 8, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers are, Brandon Hilton, Lee Hilton, Mason Teehee-Hilton, Dewayne Hilton, Mitchell Smith, Darrell Franklin, Kyle Teehee and Gary Dinwiddie.
James leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. His presence, his laughter, and his generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the stories, memories, and love he leaves behind.
