Jesse Andrew Alvarez Jr. was born on January 29, 1966, in Merced, California, and passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2026, at the age of 59. Jesse was a man whose presence filled a room and whose heart was always open to others. His passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him, but his spirit lives on through the countless memories he created and the love he so freely gave.
Jesse spent his entire life in the Modesto and Turlock areas, where he built deep roots and lasting relationships. A true jack of all trades, he was especially talented in metalwork and took pride in working with his hands. There was little he couldn’t fix or create, and he was always willing to stop what he was doing to help anyone in need.
Above all else, Jesse was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. Family meant everything to him. He shared his love generously, through his time, his skills, his laughter, and his presence. He had a passion for the outdoors and organized a yearly camping trip that brought his family together and created cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Because of him, generations learned to love nature and the joy of being together.
Jesse enjoyed playing games with his family, fishing, traveling, visiting the flea market, and sharing his favorite recipes with his daughters. He loved his pit bulls, his old cars, attending car shows, and was a die-hard Raiders fan. With a true green thumb, he could make anything grow, even cultivating an avocado tree from two avocado pits, a testament to his patience and care.
He is survived by his daughters, Destenie Alvarez, Trista Alvarez, Macy Alvarez, and Xiantiana Alvarez; his mother, Jennie Carolyn Alvarez; and his father, Jesse Andrew Alvarez Sr. He is also survived by his siblings, Maria Alvarez, Richard Alvarez, and Gina Alvarez-Weibelt, and his beloved grandchildren, Athena Portillo, Ayla Martinez, Reina Marie Alvarez, and Jesus Farias Alvarez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, located at 286 West Main Street, Turlock, CA 95380.
Jesse’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
