João Fernando De Sousa, age 77, of Hilmar, California passed away at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, on Saturday, November 5, 2022. João was born in Faja dos Vimes,São Jorge, Açores to Arminda Sousa and João Estacio Sousa.
João is survived by his spouse of 52, Marta De Sousa of Hilmar; his daughter Fernanda De Sousa-Borges (Candido) of Modesto along with his two sons, João F. De Sousa of Hilmar and Emanuel De Sousa of Turlock. João is also survived by his brother Antonio De Sousa of Hilmar, his sister Arminda De Sousa also of Hilmar, his sister-in-law Maria Lourdes Fagundes of Turlock, his sister-in-law Belmira Sousa of Hilmar, his brother-in-law Lazaro Fagundes (Zelinda) of Terceira, Açores and his brother-in-law Adam Fagundes (Alda) of Modesto. João also leaves behind his 6 grandchildren Jake De Sousa, Monica De Sousa, Shelby De Sousa, Sophia De Sousa, Dallas De Sousa and Fallon Borges to honor his memory.
João was preceded in death by his two sons both named Albert De Sousa; his father João Estacio Sousa and his mother Arminda Sousa; his sister Maria Mendonca Machado; his brother Manuel De Sousa and his sister Luisa Mendonca.
A Visitation for João will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380.
A Rosary Service followed by a Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 8471 Cypress Street, Hilmar, CA 95324.
A Committal Service will occur Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at North Hilmar Cemetery, 8744 Tegner Road, Hilmar, CA 95324.
Serving as pallbearers are Candido Borges, João De Sousa, Chris Walton, Antonio Flores, Antonio Nunes and Tony Borges.
