José Gabriel Fontes

José Gabriel Fontes, age 75, of Stockton, California passed away at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton on Thursday, November 30, 2023. José was born in Cinco Ribeiras, Terceira, Açores to Vitalina Martins and Antonio Fontes.

José is survived by his children Dale Fontes (Beverly) of Idaho; Joey Fontes of Oakdale; and Cindy Fontes also of Oakdale. José is also survived by his siblings Manuel Fontes (Filomena) of Escalon, Maria Sousa (Felix), Dina Avila (Germano),Teresa Lourenco (Abilio) and Maria Manuela Magina (Al) all of Stockton. José also leaves behind his eight grandchildren Evan, Joey, Jaden, Chelsea, Julia, Jolene, Aliah and, Gabriel Fontes to honor his memory.

José was preceded in death by his wife Liduina Fontes, his father Antonio Fontes and his mother Vitalina Martins.

A Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass for José will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 South Walnut Road, Turlock, CA 95380.

José will be laid to rest at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA 95320.

Serving, as pallbearers are Evan Fontes, Joey Fontes, Jaden Fontes, Gabriel Fontes, Michael Lourenco, Danny Fontes, Joel Sousa and Jason Magina.
