Maria Fatima (Avila) Dotson, age 62, of Turlock, California passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Maria was born July 2, 1958 in Ribeira, Seca, Sao Jorge, Azores to Maria Celeste (Cordoso) Avila and Jose V. Avila both of whom preceded her in death.
Maria is survived by her husband, James L. Dotson of Turlock; sons Tony Escobar of Atwater and Brian Escobar of Atwater; brother Jose F. Avila (Irene) of Hilmar, brother Luis R. Avila (Susan) of Delhi, sisters Orlanda Luis, Isabel Avila and Ana Avila all of Hilmar, sister Lexie Maggi (Jay) of Utah and sister Rosemary Avila (Anthony) of Turlock. Maria also leave behind several nieces and nephews.
Maria enjoyed cooking with her sisters and family, traveling and gardening. She traveled to over 30 countries but her favorite places were Israel and Fatima, Portugal. The holidays were special, her favorite being Easter, because the family would gather and be together.
A Visitation for Maria will be held from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California.
A Recitation of the Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will occur at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Road, Turlock, California. A committal service will follow at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Road, Turlock, California.
