Maria De Lurdes Melo Medeiros

Maria De Lurdes Melo Medeiros, age 80, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at her home in Gustine, California after a long battle with dementia. She was born May 4, 1937 in Fenais da Ajuda, São Miguel, Açores to Maria do Luz Melo and Mariano Pereira de Medeiros. She lived in Merced County the last 28 years.

Maria is survived by: her son Jose Carlos (Vickey) Amaral; her daughters Geraldina (Colin) Crickett, Leonor (Albert) Ramos, Angela (Dennis) Castro, Ilda (Alfredo) Aguilera, Teresa (Laudalino) Carreiro; her brothers Fernando Medeiros, Januario Medeiros, Jose Medeiros, sister Filomena Cordeiro; as well as her fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-grandson on the way.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Angelo Amaral, father Mariano Pereira De Medeiros, mother Maria da Luz Melo, grandson Mark Sousa, and brother Manuel Medeiros.

She was a dedicated parishioner of Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine, California.

A visitation for Maria will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California. The next day, there will be a recitation of the rosary followed by funeral mass at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles: 370 Linden Avenue, Gustine, California. She will be laid to rest following the services at Hills Ferry Cemetery: 1334 Stuhr Road, Newman, California.
