Maria Borges Melo, age 87, of Gustine, California passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Maria was born September 1, 1932 in Vila de São Sebastião, Terceira, Açores to Rosa Marques da Silva and Antonio Luis de Melo.
Maria is survived by her son Joe Paul Melo of Anderson, daughter Mary Sandoval of San Jose, daughter Barbina Edwards of Watsonville, niece Maria Maciel, and sister Ana Silva of Terceira, Açores. Mrs. Melo also leaves behind nine grandchildren to honor her memory.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Maria was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church in Gustine, California. She loved to garden, sew, cook, and especially spend time with her family and friends.
A visitation for Mrs. Maria Borges Melo will begin on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM, when a recitation of the rosary and then a funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church: 370 Linden Avenue, Gustine, California. Directly after the service, she will be laid to rest at Hills Ferry Cemetery: 1334 W. Stuhr Road, Newman, California.
