Mario Henriques Dias Areias

Mr. Mario Henriques Areias, age 73 “Entered into Rest” on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at San Luis Care Center in Newman, CA with his family by his side. Mr. Areias was born in São Mateus, Terceira, Azores and lived in Hilmar for five years prior to living in Newman for the last 39 years. He worked for Foster Farms for 28 years and was a manager for the last 16 years as well as a previous owner of a restaurant in Newman and was a member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church of Newman. Mr. Areias is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria Fatima Areias of Newman; One Son, Mario A. Areias (Garieanne) of Oakdale, CA; Three Daughters – Cecilia Areias (Doug Castle) of Newman, CA, Bertha “Bertie” Areias (Richard Cunningham) of Hughson, CA and Mary Areias-Romo (Ricardo Romo) of Newman, CA; Brother Manuel (Maria Alice) of Newman; Two Sisters – Iria Freitas (Elvino Freitas) of Newman and Maria Cecilia Sousa of San Jose; Eight Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren. Services: Visitation – Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock, CA. Vigil and Rosary - Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 1121 Main St., Newman, CA. Funeral Mass – Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Newman. Internment following the Funeral Mass – Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA.
