Nina Khamoo Lazar, age 75, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025. She was born in Habbaniya, Iraq, to Sorya Kakoo Paulous and Khamoo Pius Mikhael. Nina was a woman of deep and devout faith in God, and her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a loving and dedicated mother, always putting the needs of her family first. Her greatest joy came from caring for her husband Wilson and sons, Raman and Mark, and providing them with a warm and nurturing home. Nina was also known for her incredible cooking, and her meals brought comfort and happiness to all who gathered around her table.
In addition to her role as a mother, Nina worked alongside her sister Melina as a seamstress, skillfully creating beautiful clothing for Melina's business, family and her children. She was also a dedicated professional, working many years as a lab technician, and she held a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Her intelligence and dedication were evident in all aspects of her life.
Nina’s love and devotion to her family extended to her 43-year marriage to her beloved husband, Wilson Havil Lazar, who preceded her in death. Their bond was one of deep love, respect, and shared commitment to their family and faith. They built a life together centered on their love for each other and their children.
Nina is survived by her sons, Raman Lazar and Mark Lazar, as well as many extended family members who were a cherished part of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Havil Lazar; her parents, Khamoo Pius Mikhael and Sorya Kakoo Paulous; and her siblings, Christina Pius George, Melina Pius Oshana, Mikhael Pius, Aprim Pius, Basil Pius, Rafael Pius, and Mishael "Kooya" Pius.
Nina’s memory will live on through her family and all who were touched by her kindness, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love.
A recitation of the rosary for Nina will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 953804814. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church at 2901 North Berkeley Ave, Turlock, CA 95382. A committal service will occur Monday, January 27, 2025 at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 North Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers are Raman Lazar, Daymion Rosado, Joe Pius, Sarges Oshana, John Shabo, and Emile Thomas.
