Paul was a longtime resident of Modesto, California. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, an experience that reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment. He was known as a loving, firm, and fair man whose guidance and values left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul had a deep appreciation for nature and adventure. He enjoyed camping, fishing, crabbing, and flying kites, and he shared this passion wholeheartedly with his family. He introduced them to the outdoors and established a cherished tradition of annual camping trips, some lasting as long as two weeks, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. In his quieter moments, Paul also enjoyed spending his downtime playing video games.
Paul and his wife, Mary Victoria, were dedicated volunteers at local churches, giving their time and service to support their community.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Victoria Stevenson; his son, Daniel Isaac Villegas; and his daughters, Manuela Chavez (Jesse) and Rebecca Chavez. He is also survived by his father, Paul Leroy Stevenson Sr.; his sister, Carol Ann Stevenson; and his brother, Jimmy Stevenson (Eve). He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Joyce Stevenson.
A Celebration of Life honoring Paul will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The House Modesto, located at 1601 Coffee Road, Modesto, California 95355. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance.
Paul will be remembered for his strength, fairness, devotion to family, and love of the outdoors. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the traditions he built.
