

Anna Ruth Turner Estes, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died November 23, 2017 at her daughter's home. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby K. Estes; parents, Ed Turner and Frances Mink Turner; brothers, Charles Turner and Donald Turner; and sister, Frances Jones.
Survivors include daughter, Gail Estes Hollingsworth (Mike) of Tuscaloosa; son, David Wesley Estes (Janie) of Northport; sisters, Minnie Britt of Flint, Mich., Linda Brown of Jasper and Lucille Pittman of Tuscaloosa; brother, William Ernest "Bill" Turner (Shirley) of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Rachel Hollingsworth Chapman (Wes), Laura Estes Tidwell, Benjamin Lloyd Hollingsworth (Rachel) and Bobby James Estes; great-grandchildren, Aisley Brooke Chapman, Jonathan Alexander Tidwell and Thomas Michael Chapman; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.
Ruth Estes was the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother you could ask for. She was a devoted member and attendee of Valley View Baptist Church until her health prevented her from going. She loved the Lord, her family and caring for children. Many called her Maw Maw or Aunt Ruth, blood relation or not. She gave generously of all that she had and wouldn't let anyone leave her house if she thought they were hungry. Ruth had a wonderful spirit and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Ben Hollingsworth, B.J. Estes, Wes Chapman, Dave Strickland, Kevin McCullough, and Colby Mouchette.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hamner, James Jones, Jr., Amedisys Home Health & Hospice and Dr. Gene Alldredge.
