Betty Jo Brasier Robertson, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, passed away peacefully following complications from a stroke Friday, June 29, 2012. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, followed by a memorial service at First United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa at 2 p.m. with Dr. Ken Dunivant officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
Betty was born May 20, 1930, to the late Arabella Snellings Brasier and Lewis Edwin Brasier. She graduated from Hueytown High School in the class of 1948 and raised her children in Hueytown until she moved to Tuscaloosa in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she climbed the stairs to sit in the balcony until her recent illness. She made many friends through her affiliation with Beta Sigma Phi, Bank of Tuscaloosa, and most recently as a resident of Presbyterian Apartments, where she loved gathering with friends to play cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Joe Durward Best.
Betty Jo will be remembered for being a wonderful friend, but her greatest achievement was being an intelligent, loving, Christian mother. She is survived by her children, Barbara Best Kucharski (Joel), Bruce Howard Best (Carolyn), and daughter in-law, Leeann Best; grandchildren, Brian, Lauren, Lindsey, and Ashley; and brother, John Edwin Brasier (Veloe); and special nieces and nephews in Idaho, who will miss her unconditional love and sweet and selfless grace.
Memorials to First United Methodist Church Care Team would honor our mother and friend.
