The Celebration of Life will be at 11 am with a committal service to follow at Memory Hill Gardens.
Betty was born on June 21, 1935, was raised on Harris Lake, and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School.
She married Leon Tucker on October 17, 1954. The pair started their family in the City of Tuscaloosa, then later moved to the Northwood Lake community in Northport. She attended St. Mark United Methodist Church for 59 years and was a member of the former McCollum Sunday School Class.
Betty will be remembered as a devoted wife and a deeply involved matriarch of her family. A woman of strong and abiding faith, she lived her life rooted in Christian values, shaping her family through love, grace, and unwavering strength.
Betty shared a deep and joyful partnership with her husband, and cherished time they spent square dancing, taking Sunday afternoon rides, visiting the river, sitting on the back porch, or just being together with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook who showed her love through the meals and traditions she created. Each Christmas, she made candy and fudge to share with loved ones, and she delighted in decorating elaborate birthday cakes. She took great pride in passing her skills and traditions down to her daughters.
Betty had a way of drawing attention wherever she went, not only for her impeccable sense of style and thoughtfully coordinated outfits, but for the warmth of her smile and the joy of her genuine, contagious laugh. She found her greatest happiness in time spent with her family, whether on trips to the mountains, or celebrating the everyday moments and milestones in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also had a gift for making any gathering feel special, bringing people together with love and intention.
When her family sees a cardinal, they will be reminded of her presence and the love she leaves behind.
Betty worked at YMCA, BF Goodrich Tank Lining Department, and later at Druid City Hospital in both the Administration Office and Construction Office, where she was known for her typing and shorthand skills.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Roy and Flossie Terry; sisters, Alice Terry Kizziah, Earline Terry Kizziah, and Aligene Terry Madison; and brother Roy Eugene Terry.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Leon Tucker; daughters Florinda Hinton (Danny) and Melissa Flowers; grandchildren Chad Hinton, Clay Hinton, Will Flowers, and Katie Flowers Moss; great-grandchildren Layken Waldrop, Kaylin Hinton, Tucker Hinton, Fysher Hinton, Benjamin Flowers, Ransom Flowers, and Oliver Moss; her adored canine companion, Baby; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
