Mrs. Billie Ruth White went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 after a long and wonderful 89 years of life. Mrs. White was born on April 9, 1934 to Fred and Bertha Dixon in Mobile Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Connie Robinson and QB Radcliffe and one brother, Norman Dixon. Mrs. White leaves behind a beloved husband of 69 years, Reverend Nelson E. White. She also leaves two children, Ruth Gray (Tim) of Tuscaloosa, and Clark White (Kelly) of Alabaster. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, Caleb Gray (Savanna), Abbey-Paige Gray Johnson (Connor), Emma White, and Joshua White. She also adored her great grandson, Bennett Gray. Billie is also survived by one sister, Bonnie McLaughlin and a host of other family members. Sister White, as she was affectionately known by her church family and friends, began serving the Lord at an early age and faithfully throughout her life. Her life was one of dedication to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and supporting her husband's ministry for over 70 years. Sister White was involved in every aspect of ministry including children's crusades, missions trips, evangelism, youth camps, district work for the Assemblies of God, music ministry, prison and nursing home ministry, as well as all of the aspects associated with being a pastor's wife. She enjoyed smocking and sewing beautiful baby dresses and was an expert cake decorator making many delicious cakes for family special occasions. While raising her family, Billie also worked full-time jobs at Gayfers, Dillards, and Dunkins Pharmacy. She never missed an opportunity witness and share her testimony with those in her community. She loved to tell others about Jesus and all He had done for her. Even in her last days, Billie was a prayer warrior and even witnessed to those caring for her. We are blessed and comforted to know that she is finally at home with the One she loved the most. "Well done good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:21.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 12:30 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A private committal service will take place afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Gideons International or to the Missions Project fund of Kingwood Church. Any gifts to these organizations will be used to continue her heart of spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth.
