Married to the love of his life, Linda June Gallahar Knowles, for more than 66 years, he was the epitome of a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. Bobby was a 1953 graduate of the Oxford High School “Yellowjackets” in Oxford, AL, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama. As a veteran of the United States Air Force, he proudly served his country with honor and integrity from 1954 until 1958, during which he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and spent two of his four years in Japan. He loved God, bass fishing, and spending time with his family, in that order. He was a master angler as a member of the West Alabama Fishermen’s Association and the Alabama B.A.S.S. Federation, and his favorite days were spent fishing (and winning!) countless tournaments with his sons and dear friends.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Linda Gallahar Knowles; brothers, Roger Carl Knowles (Ann), Harry Don Knowles (Carol), sister-in-law, Jan Knowles; 2 sons, Kevin Knowles and Kreg Knowles (Fiance, Bonnie Allen); 1 daughter, Kathy Knowles; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Knowles, Courtney Walker (Stephen), Seth Knowles (Ellen); and 6 great-grandchildren, Rowe Johnston, Seeley Johnston, Murray Walker, Merritt Walker, McGee “Mac” Knowles and Ruth Knowles; sister-in-law, Rita Bourgeois and family, as well as numerous other beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Carl Knowles; his brother, John Charles Knowles; his son, Ken Knowles; and his nephew, Ric Knowles. We remember and honor him for being a faithful servant and child of God, our guiding light and source of endless love. The family would like to express their sincere and eternal gratitude to everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this time of extreme loss and grief.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a memorial donation to a church or charitable organization of your choosing.
