Danny was born March 12, 1943 in Shiloh, Alabama. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1961. Danny married his beautiful bride, Mary, on August 28, 1964. He then pursued his education at The University of Alabama, where he graduated from in 1968. Following graduation, Danny began his career at McAbee Construction, where he worked as a mechanical engineer for 33 years. At this point, he decided to retire to allow more time for his hobbies of traveling, woodworking, fishing, cheering on Alabama athletics, and spending time with family and friends. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, and friend anyone could ask for.
His sense of adventure, generosity, wisdom, and love will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
His family would like to express their love and gratitude to so many that have been such a blessing to him and his family, including past and present employees of McAbee Construction, Leroy McAbee Sr., Wendell McAbee, Dr. Keith Debell and staff, UAB hospital staff, DCH MICU 3rd floor, Danny Mills, James Mills, Ricky Phillips, Jerry Carpenter, David Hamner, and many more beloved friends.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Danny’s remarkable life on Sunday, April 21st from 2pm to 4pm at Smokey Ridge Events and Retreat in Knoxville, AL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association.
