
Doris Jo Cook, age 87, of Duncanville, died October 24, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Hallman officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and five brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband, James H. Cook of Duncanville, Ala.; sons, Jimmy Cook (Nancy) and Marlon Cook (Debbie) of Duncanville, Ala.; sister, Elizabeth Lussier of Bristol, Tenn.; brothers, Doug Tunnell and Morris Tunnell of Duncanville, Ala.; grandchildren, Casey Cook (Robbie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jenna Madison (Wesley) of Northport, Ala., Michael Cook (Cacy) of Duncanville, Ala. and Megan Durham (Chris) of Brookwood, Ala; and eight great-grandchildren. Doris was a loving wife for 69 years. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up. She loved to cook for her family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her loving caregivers, Pat Pearson and Christy Gardner. Also, thanks to Alacare Hospice caregivers, Lindsey Hastings and Faye Jones. Pallbearers will be Casey Cook, Michael Cook, Chris Durham, Mike Tunnell, Lewis Tunnell, Donald Tunnell and Ken Holloway.
Honorary pallbearers are Duncanville Baptist Church friends, Delora Banks and Dr. Chandra and staff. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Duncanville Baptist Church Building Fund.
