
Edsel Harold Bohannon, age 90, of Tuscaloosa, died January 7, 2016, at home. Services will be 10 a.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Willis Harbison and Freddy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Foster Bohannon; parents, William Oscar and Cora Sapp Bohannon; brothers, Lewis and Otto Bohannon; sisters, Myrtle Edwards, Dessie Morrison, Ethel Elmore, Delli Mullally, Ellie Bobo, Eddie Rene Brock, Agnes Bohannon; and several nieces and nephews.Survivors include his daughter, Sharon B. Ray of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; son, Timothy H. Bohannon (Camille) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; granddaughters, Amy Ray Randle (John) of Iowa City, Iowa, and Rebecca Bohannon Condra (Steve); great-grandchildren, Kate Randle, Anna Randle, Davis Randle, and Brandon Deavours; and several nieces and nephews.Edsel was a native of Fayette County and a resident of Tuscaloosa County for 69 years. He retired from the Alabama State Highway Department after 40 years of service. Edsel served the Lord in whatever capacity he was led. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 66 years, Opal, gardening and sharing harvest with others and road trips and vacations with friends.Pallbearers will be John McDaniel, Chuck Brock, Stanley Moore, Aaron Dill, Donald Hallman, Larry Wayne Humber and Jay Mordecai.Honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. James Doss, Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Stapleton, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Duncan and Hospice of West Alabama.The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers: Vicky King, Ollie Evans and Dr. Ross Vaughn.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene or Hospice of West Alabama.""Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord.
