

He is preceded in death by his parents, George William Davis and Fredna Harris Davis, Florence Shedd Schroeder and Carl Schroeder, and his sister, Ruth Schroeder Hayden.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne Fair Davis, his daughter Andrea Davis Hill (Andrew), his beloved grandson Christopher Edward Hill; sister Louise Davis Ritter (Joe); brothers Charles Schroeder (Paula), Ted Schroeder (Maureen), Fred Schroeder; Joe Davis (Johnnetta), and Paul Davis and many beloved nieces and nephews. Edward loved his family and treasured his time with all of them.
Edward worked as a metallurgical engineer with the United States Department of Interior’s Bureau of Mines at The University of Alabama for 33 years. He retired as Lt. Colonel in the United States Army Reserve as a chemical officer and taught in the USAR school.
His beloved hobby was singing with the Crimson Pride Barbershop Chorus of Tuscaloosa for over 45 years. He loved performing in competitions, shows and introducing people to barbershop singing.
Edward was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church for over 40 years. He never met a stranger and loved visiting with someone he just met or his many family and friends. He loved them all with a big heart and a love of life. He was greatly loved by all who knew him.
Burial, with military honors, will be on Monday, September 28, 2020, at 2:00pm from the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, with Rev. David Meginniss and Rev. Catherine Collier officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity provider is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
