

Eloise was a 25-year veteran of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department where she retired in 1995 as a Sergeant. During her tenure with TCSD, she received multiple awards and accolades. She was a pioneer for women in law enforcement serving over the years as an advocate and protector of runaway, abused, and exploited children; undercover narcotics officer, and as chief communications officer. She also, was a distinguished expert marksman and firearms instructor as well as a self-defense instructor. She is the first female graduate from FBI National Academy from the state of Alabama.
Eloise is survived by her proudest accomplishments—her children: Sharron Rudowski (John), Jeff Stough (Patricia), and Donna Stough. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeremy (Devon) and Jared (Casey) Crowder and Kevin (Erika) and Mary Stough; and great grandchildren Oakleigh and Maddux Crowder and Mia, Barrett, and Isla Stough; and sisters Annie Sue Scheile and Betty Dial.
Eloise is preceded in death by her adoring husband of 64 years, Tony Stough, her parents James and Ida Martin, and siblings Odis “Pete” Martin; James Edward Martin; Jean Craig, and Ned-a-Von Boles.
Eloise was a devout child of God and a member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Memory Hill Gardens. Service will be led by Pastors Ted Sessoms, Pat Powell, and Mike Griffin.
Pallbearers will be the Tuscaloosa Couty Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers include Arbor Springs Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department, Tuscaloosa Police Department, Dr. Stephen Browne, DCH Regional Hospital Staff of 7-South and TCICU, Brandon and Tonya West, Frances and Chris Willingham, Lynn Criss, Mary Nell and Buddy Butler, and Special Daughter Deborah Plummer.
