Evelyn Lashley Gay

Born January 16, 1932 to James and Martha Lee Lashley, she lived most of her life in Greene County Alabama. Evelyn is preceded in death by husband James E. Gay, Jr; parents James and Martha Lee Lashley; and siblings Claudene Rhodes, Martha Grantham, Faye Beams, James Lashley Jr., Mary Jane Porter, and Willice Lashley. She leaves behind a legacy of three generations of nieces and nephews, all of whom are blessed to have been the recipients of her generous outpourings of love.

Those who knew and love her will always remember her sweet temperament and kind soul. She survived nephews’ teenage antics through fervent prayer and the occasional nerve pill. Like a true southern grandmother, she was quick to order a bite to eat to anyone who entered her home. Evelyn spent her final years enjoying the company of her family, delighting especially in her great-nieces and -nephews.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 16, at 1:00 PM at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mad to Hospice of West Alabama.
