Floyd was raised in Fosters at a fish hatchery managed by his dad. He attended Fosters school and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School. He grew up a member of Grants Creek Baptist Church, accepting Christ at a young age. After graduating, he joined the Army National Guard. Many stories in his life reflected these years. He met the love of his life, Vera, on a blind date at the BBQ Inn. They married in February 1964. He worked at the Papermill in Holt and Morrison's Catering. He was later hired at Bessemer Carraway Medical Center as Food Service Director, holding that title until retirement. He always said working there was the one of the best parts of his life. He and Vera resided and raised their girls in Green Pond , moving to Tuscaloosa and ending up in Fosters later in life. He was one of a kind. His constant wish was for everyone to be happy and the laughter of his kids and grandkids made him the happiest. He was the best story teller. It was the highlight of his life to be around his family, and making sure everyone had plenty to eat.
Pallbearers are Michael Corbett, Joel Hatfield, Harrison Hatfield, Sam Stoudenmire, Nick Stoudenmire, David Corbett and Clayton Puckett. Honorary Pallbearers are the employees of ProHealth Hospice (Rachel and Tasha), Dr. Dawn Bryant and Laura Ryan.
