He was a graduate of Bibb County High School and The University of Alabama. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Murphy, Parents Forest E. Murphy Sr. and Effie Murphy.
He is survived by his son, William "Bill" Murphy, sisters Carolyn Tubbs, Glenda Murphy, and Betty Crews.
Honorary pallbearers include former members of Temple Baptist Church, employees of Phifer Green Acres and the staff of Tuskaloosa Internal Medicine, and Dr. Ross Vaughn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Caring Days of Tuscaloosa.
A visitation for Forest will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
