Frances Ruth Montgomery

Frances Ruth Montgomery was called home peacefully while at rest in her home on July 20, 2024 at the age of 97. Ruth was born August 13, 1926 in Tuscaloosa County to the late Howard and Maude Gilliland Barnett. She is also preceded in death by her husband Robert Reynolds Montgomery; sisters, Kathleen Stripling and Jean Moore Hayes. Ruth is survived by her sons, Bill Montgomery and Bob Montgomery (Billie); 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, other family members and a host of friends. Special friends, Marie Wilts and Gloyce Skelton; her caregivers, Shelly Smith, Shannon Mondragon and Kalla Bigham.

Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. She was a former lunchroom manager at Montgomery Elementary School. Much of her time was devoted to raising her boys since her husband was a locomotive engineer for 32 years. She then worked alongside her husband farming and being a homemaker. Ruth loved the outdoors and working with her flowers. She was a mentor of love and kindness to everyone she met. Special memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew Mrs. Ruth and her love for the Lord, her family and her church. She will be profoundly missed!

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery, 15158 Bethabara Road, Northport, Al 35475. Bro. Brian Moon of ProHealth Hospice officiating.

There will be no public visitation held prior to the service.
