Gayle Sherrill Leonard

Gayle Sherrill Leonard, age 52, of Tuscaloosa, died July 19, 2015, surrounded by her family. Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred Sr. and Hazel Sherrill and Cliff Sr. and Gladys Barger; sister, Rhonda Rene Sherrill; and Martin Stanczyk.Survivors include her husband, Charles Leonard of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Courtney Leonard Kimbrell (Alex) of Northport; son, Jaime Leonard of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Angela Rhodes (Craig) of Decatur, Texas, Rebecca Hawthorne of Tuscaloosa, Jamie Walker (Scott) of Birmingham, and Cynthia Hutson (Christopher) of Columbia, Tenn.; brothers, Billy Sherrill of Northport and David Sherrill (Christie) of Tuscaloosa; parents, Charlotte Stanczyk-Dennis of Tuscaloosa and William Fred Sherrill, Jr. (Fonda) of Northport; and uncle and aunt, Cliff and Martha Barger. Gayle was the loving wife and mother to a wonderful husband and two amazing kids. Her giving, kind, stubborn, and hardheadedness is what made people love her the most. She loved doing her daily crosswords, watching her judge shows, reading tons of books, cooking delicious food, spending time with friends and family, and spending her days with her dog, Sugar.Gayle was truly a one of a kind woman and she will be greatly missed by so many. "It's not goodbye, it's until we see you again." Pallbearers will be Tres Barger, Christopher Curington, Ray Hamner, Robert Jamison, Ricky Kinard, Kevin McCullough, and Scott Walker.Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Caldwell, Kristen Key, Sarah Allen, Katherine Barhydt, Carol Dendy, Kristin Anderson, all nurses in the ACCU at DCH Regional Medical Center, all employees of Hunt Refining Company, and Hospice of West Alabama.
