August 1942 – July 2025
Glenda Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, and treasured memories. She would have celebrated her 83rd birthday this August.
Born and raised in Houston, Alabama, Glenda grew up surrounded by family and faith. Her childhood was filled with joyful days spent alongside her cousins and her cherished sister, Connie. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenith, her dear husband Michael and her parents Roy Speer and Willie Mae Wilson Speer.
Glenda’s life was defined by her deep love for family. She was a proud and loving mother to Marsha, James Lee, and Jan, and a caring stepmother to Charles. Her grandchildren—Grant and Caitlin, —meant the world to her. She shared a special bond with Grant over Rail Road stories and with Caitlin, built over sweet treats and Saturday morning pancakes at McDonald’s.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—strolling through the mall or Walmart, preparing her famous cheese balls and doo dads at Christmas, and taking trips to the beach or on cruises with those she loved. Her faith was her foundation, and she held dear the fellowship of her home church, especially the 3rd Sunday “dinner on the ground” singings at Houston Baptist Church.
Glenda also found companionship and fulfillment in her work at the DCH switchboard, where her friendly voice became a comforting presence, and in countless bingo dates with her dear friends.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, strong spirit, and the unwavering care she extended to everyone she met. Glenda Scott leaves behind a family rooted in her love and strength, and a community forever touched by her presence.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her sister Connie, children, Marsha, James Lee, Jan, Charles grandchildren Grant, Caitlin, Christopher, Blake, Connor, and great granddaughter Natalie.
