
Harold Dabney "Dab" Duncan, age 90, of Northport, died March 10, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. today at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. George Shaddix officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
His parents, Dulcie and John Duncan, his sisters, Orlean Prescott and Margie Dean Duncan, his brother, Harmon Duncan, his first wife, Mary Nell Duncan, and his stepson, James Newton Cartlidge, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Ashcraft Duncan; daughters, Yalonda Duncan Parker, Jane Duncan Lazer (Hank), and Linda Cartlidge Carroll (Ray); brothers, John William Duncan of Tuscaloosa and Hubert Ray Duncan of Carrollton; and grandchildren, Julie Sexton Earnhart (Kip), Mary Parker Downey (Jeremy), James Odis Parker, Alan Dabney Lazer, Steven Ray Carroll, Douglas Newton Carroll, Leslie Cartlidge Christian, and Leila Jem Cartlidge.
Mr. Duncan graduated from Carrollton High School and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war ended, Dab moved to Tuscaloosa and went to work at B.F. Goodrich until he retired. He was a member of Northwood Hills Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Brannan, Joe Billings, John Calhoun, Jim Hanley, Charles Hall, Don Williams, Royce Kirkland, Buddy Lackey, Bill Shuman, Ira Tucker, and Bill Shepherd.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Northwood Hills Baptist Church, and neighbors and friends of Northwood Lake.
