James is survived by his brother Danny Pate (Rita); his sisters Cindy Powell, Cheryl Pate, Julie Oligschlaeger(Mark Baxter), and Donna Pickard (Dale) and his cousins Renee Tindle (Chuck), Lisa Clark, Scott Townsend (Lisa) and Craig Marlow (Samantha).
James was preceded in death by his father James Pate Sr. and his mother Jeannette Hudson; his grandmother Earline Pate, and his nephew Chad Oligschlaeger.
James was born in 29 Palms, California, and raised by his grandmother and great-grandmother in Northport, Alabama. He attended and graduated from Northport Academy in 1973. He was a member of Northport Methodist Church. James enjoyed all sports, especially Alabama football. He was employed by Western Supermarkets in Birmingham, Alabama, for twenty years. James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
