

KISSIMMEE, Fla. James Ray Roberts, age 84, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Tuscaloosa, died December 2, 2013, at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Roberts Sr.; mother, Lucie Ellen Roberts; sister, Hildreth R. Gilliland; and brother, Don Hugh Roberts.Survivors include mother of surviving children, Dorothy K. Welty; daughter, Carla June Emerson (Mark); sons, Kenneth Ray Roberts (Melanie), James Ray Roberts Jr. (Christina), John Mark Roberts, and Phillip Neil Roberts; brother, John Henry Roberts; grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Roberts Jr., Jason Allen Roberts, Crystal Ann Abney, Phillip Neil Roberts Jr., and Katelyn Grace Roberts; great-grandchildren, Kenneth Dakota Roberts, Caylee Jade Marinos, Caleb Benjamin Roberts, and Lucas Xavier Roberts. James was born in Florence, Alabama November 3, 1929, and moved to Tuscaloosa at age three. He graduated from Holt High School, served in the Korean War in the Army, and played saxophone for VFW. He graduated from the University of Alabama. On November 15, 1950, he married Dorothy and had five children. He owned Texaco Station in Tuscaloosa in the 1970's, moved to Florida in 1973, and went to work for ABC Liquor in Florida as personnel director until retirement. He then went to work for Walt Disney World in the Help Center.
