

Jewell Dorman Hunt Rowe died peacefully at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa on November 9, 2016 at the age of 82. Jewell Rowe is survived by her children, Pat Woodward (Virgil), Nancy Gail Willson (David), Sharon Diane Key (Randy) and Peggy Ruth McKay (John). She is survived by her brother, Alex Hunt (Willie Bell), and sisters, Becky Meigs (Jerry) and Rachel Elrod (Jerry). Grandchildren are Tiffany Woodward (Daniel Jones) of Georgia, Kati Pollock (Chris) and Michael Hick of Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Rowe; parents, Paul Hunt and Nancy Hunt; sister, June Pearson; special friend, Pete Hendrix; niece, Brenda Pearson; and nephew, Tracy Rowe. Jewell grew up in Blount County. After moving to Duncanville, the couple welcomed four daughters into their home, and Jewell set about teaching them the love of God, the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the comforting presence of the Holy Spirit. Her children remember her as a kind and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams.Jewell was accomplished at singing and making people laugh. In the early years, she played the accordion. Throughout her life, she used her voice to minister through music by singing and telling of God's magnificent love and grace. She also used her many creative talents in floral arranging and decorating wedding cakes. She was a generous, comical and dedicated individual who loved God with all of her heart, soul, and mind. Jewell was passionate about helping Russian widows through mission work through Victorious Life Church.A celebration of Jewell Rowe's life is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Duncanville United Methodist Church. Pastor Dennis Avery will officiate the service. Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2016, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Skyland Blvd. in Tuscaloosa. Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is directing. Pallbearers will be Virgil Woodward, David Willson, Randy Key, John McKay, Terry Rowe and Ken Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers are Tony and Joyce Christian, Abbie Rowe and family, Jan Stacy, Edith Price, Mark Nelson, all residents of Shalom Mobile Home Park, all nieces and nephews, numerous friends and family members. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers including the staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Gene Alldredge, the staff and residents of Regency Retirement Village, Dr. Jeff Laubenthal, Lacey Quarles, and Dr. Thomas Patton, Viola McAteer, and Cherry Luna, for their tender loving care of our precious mother.
