

Jo Ruth Sullivan, 90, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, slipped into His presence while listening to her granddaughter, Casey, sing, “Surely the Presence of the Lord is in the Place,” at Hospice of West Alabama on October 24, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Emma Jean Holliman Harris; her husband, Fred Sullivan; and her son-in-law, Mike Mills.
She is survived by her daughters: Randy Moodie and Robin Mills, and her son, Kenny (Lib) Sullivan; her five grandchildren: Hunter and Forrest Moodie, Casey (Trevor) McFarlin, Brett (Morgan) Sullivan, and Chase (Colbi) Sullivan; and her five great grandchildren: Finley and Lilah Moodie, Sulli Beth and Bonnie Mason McFarlin, and Emma Sullivan.
Jo Ruth was born on December 10, 1929. She grew up in a rural farming community in Fayette County. She graduated from Palmetto High School in Pickens County and attended Livingston University. She met her husband, Fred, from Moores Bridge, Alabama. They married and moved to Tuscaloosa to raise a family.
Jo Ruth loved music. She taught piano lessons her entire life. She was very active in her church, Forest Lake Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and led the Children’s Angel Choir. She was a member of The National Federation of Music Clubs, Tuscaloosa Music Club, and The Piano Teachers Forum. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord and made it evident to everyone around.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Memory Chapel. Her graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm.
