Johnny Franklin Walton, of Northport, Ala., died on January 18, 2019, at the age of 79. Mr. Walton lived most of his life in Talladega, Alabama where he worked in the Transportation Department at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
He loved fishing, gardening, University of Alabama football, and spending time with his family. He was married to the love of his life, Bernadette "Bernie" Walton for 52 years. He moved to Northport, Alabama to be closer to his daughter Hope Walton Robbins, and twin granddaughters Kate, and Anna Robbins. He will be truly missed.
Johnny Franklin Walton was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Chester Walton, and Dottie L. Walton; his sister Mary Elizabeth Walton; and brothers, Nelson, Bobby, and Billy Walton.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadette Bolding Walton of Northport; daughter, Hope Walton Robbins (Ray); sisters, Trixie Kay Smith, and Martha L. Smith (Carlton); brothers, William Clayton Walton, and Jackie Donald Walton (Bonnie); and twin granddaughters, Kate Marie Robbins, and Anna Ray Robbins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Talladega, with Robert Paul officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Johnny Walton's honor to Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
