Joseph D. "J.D." Beck Jr.

RALPH – Joseph D. “J.D.” Beck, Jr., age 83, of Ralph, Ala. passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022. J.D. was born May 29, 1939 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 at Grant’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Pate officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Grant’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the funeral home.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Delmos and Birdie Pittmon Beck; sister, Helen Quarles; and brother-in-law, R.C. Quarles.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sarah “Tiny” Cork Beck; daughters, Terri Strunk (Mike) and Joan Beck (Randall Howell); son, Roger Beck (Jackie); brother, Bobby Beck (Earline); grandchildren, Sarah Hacker (Randy), Bill Minor, Brenda Michelle Clements (Nick Hamilton), Bryan Clements (Charli), Cole Beck, and Jack Beck; and great-grandchildren, Toby Hacker, Zac Hacker, Gabe Hacker, Ayden Clements, Jaxi Hicks, and Wyatt Clements.

J.D. was a lifelong member of Grant’s Creek Baptist Church. He was the Sunday School Director for many years and made many mission trips with the church. He was an employee of Bell South for 34 years. He was a member of the Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief cooking team. He traveled to many areas, foreign and domestic, to help. He was a member of the Fosters-Ralph Volunteer Fire Department since its inception. J.D. was a faithful servant to his Lord and savior in all of his endeavors. He loved serving in every capacity that he was asked to do. He was the finest example to us, his family and friends, of life spent in service to God.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bill Minor, Bryant Clements, Cole Beck, and Jack Beck, and great-grandsons, Toby Hacker, Zac Hacker, Gabe Hacker, and Ayden Clements.

Honorary pallbearers are all deacons past and present of Grant’s Creek Baptist Church, former employees of Bell South, Alabama Disaster Relief cooking crew, Fosters-Ralph Volunteer Fire Department, and Jerry Evans.
