Wayne is survived by his two sons, Ken (Faith) Largin and Mike (Jeannie) Largin, his daughter Susan (Gordon) Terry, his four grandchildren, Chris (Cassidy) Largin, Taylor (Daniel) Hall, Will Largin and Casey (Allie) Largin, sisters-in-law Betty Ray and Ann Jennings, nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Evelen Sue Largin, his mother and father, Willie and Harvey Largin, his brother Billy (Mary) Largin, his sisters Doris (Jim) Elkins and Peggy (W.L.) Price, and three nieces, Carol Burton, Debbie Kings, and Chelle Turner (Grandniece).
Wayne was a Navy Veteran and longtime member of Holt United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed a long career as an electrician, working at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham, as well as Reichhold Chemical Plant in Holt and retiring from The University of Alabama. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Wayne was referred to later in life as “Pops” by his children and “Poppa” by his grandkids. An avid deer hunter, he was a lifetime member of the Deer Ridge Hunting Club. The only thing Wayne enjoyed more than being
in the woods was cutting his grass, which he did religiously whether it needed it or not. He also enjoyed Alabama Crimson Tide sports, sitting in his backyard, and watching “his westerns”. He will be sorely missed.
A graveside service will be held on April 12th, 2026, 2:00 PM at Memory Hills Garden in Tuscaloosa, AL, with Jason Turner officiating, where he will be buried next to his beloved wife, Sue.
Pallbearers will be Chris Largin, Will Largin, Casey Largin, Mike Thomas, Butch Elkins and Terry Kings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jayne Phillips, Wanda Hanson, Cindy Jennings, Annette Largin, Taylor Hall, Tony Allen, Scott Strickland and Danny Wilson.
Special thanks go out to the doctors and nurses at Tuskaloosa Internal Medicine, and to Hospice of West Alabama.
