Mark loved The University of Alabama and filled many different roles at The University. He was a student, obtaining his undergraduate degree in Political Science and History in the late '80s. He was a professional staff member, working for and assisting several different departments since 1985. He served the Division of Student Affairs as Operations Manager in the Ferguson Center, Assistant Director of Student Judicial Affairs, On-Call Dean, and advisor to the Student Judiciary and Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. His reach and influence extended past those positions. He assisted the University Police and worked part-time with The University of Alabama Athletics Department in football, men's and women's basketball, and gymnastics.
His commitment to The University of Alabama was not limited to an eight hour day. He served in a capacity that involved trips to the hospital in the late night and early morning hours to visit students who were in emergency situations. Meeting with student groups at night was common for him, as well as riding with the University Police. He also worked many athletic events on weekends and evenings. Mark served The University and its students at any opportunity that was given to him.
Mark loved his family. If you did not know his family, you felt like you did. He had many family stories to share, and he shared them joyously.
He attended South Highlands Baptist Church for several years. He previously served as a deacon and choir director.
Most importantly, Mark Foster was our friend, our brother and a son. We will miss him greatly.
Pallbearers will be the University of Alabama Police Department.
