Mary Ruth (Mills) Howard

TUSCALOOSA -- Mary Ruth Mills Howard, age 70, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. passed away on September 2, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be from 1-2pm at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Friday September 7, 2018. A graveside service will follow visitation at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, Ala. at 3pm with Rev. Frankie Miller officiating the service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Roy Mills Sr. and Beulah Mae Mills; brothers, James R. Mills, Jr., Tom Mills, Johnny Mills, Ben Mills, Archie Mills, and Cullen Mills; and sisters, Aline Terry and Sara Hargle.

She is survived by her daughter Kristy Davis Miller (David); grandsons Brandan Miller and Josh Miller; brother, Hallie Mills; sisters, Carolyn Goodwin, Mae Frost (Gordon), and Kay Fields; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was loved by many and touched many lives. She loved children. She had a special place in her heart to care for special needs children and foster children. She worked in the Tuscaloosa County School System for 25 years as a special needs classroom aide and bus aide, then retired. She loved her two precious grandsons and family.

Pallbearers will be Brandan Miller, Josh Miller, Byron Keith Mills, Shane Mills, John Mills, and Donald Terry. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. McKenzie, TSICU Drs. Corder, Hill and Weems, Dr. J. Miller, Dr. Burdette and Taylorville Family Medicine, DCH Respiratory Department, TSICU Nursing staff, 6SE, Hospice of West Alabama, Soma Church, and the Tuscaloosa County BOE Special Needs Department and Bus Department.
