Paul Lewis Hubbard

Paul Lewis Hubbard, age 74, of Northport, died September 25, 2015, at UAB Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015, at Northport Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Fields and Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Grace Hubbard; son, Barry Hubbard; both parents; and a sister.Survivors include his wife, June Hubbard; daughter, Nikki Kelly (Frank); son, Brad Hubbard (Senna); step-children, Stacey Johnson (Lance) and Shane Hollingsworth (Lisa); grandchildren, Blake and Skyler Hubbard, Hanna Grace, Hayden and Emily Kelly, Maddalyn and Collyn Johnson, and Ayden and Ava Kate Hollingsworth.Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend with a tremendous passion for helping others. He worked as an accountant for 32 years at Gulf States Paper. He was a member of Northport Baptist Church, actively serving as Church Treasurer and Deacon. He also loved serving in the Children's Ministry. He recently retired from serving on the Civil Service Board for the City of Northport after serving for 20 years. He was recently asked to serve on the Board for the Good Samaritan Clinic. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a love for the outdoors. But the things in life that brought him the most joy were his children and grandchildren who lovingly called him Pop.Pallbearers will be Wade Thomas, David Doss, Terry Bunn, Carl Wilson, Rodney Mitchell, Jerry Tidmore, Frank Hamiter and Bobby Johnson.Honorary pallbearers are Northport Baptist Church Family and former and current employees of Gulf States Paper.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northport Baptist Building Fund.
