Prentiss E. Gardner, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, died September 21, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. today September 24, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Florence Gardner and nephews, Tim and Dylan Gardner and Chad Shepherd.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mabeline Gardner; nieces, Jenny Cole, Lynn Ready, Becky Richardson, Kandi Turner, Madyson Turner, Katie Pittman and Emry Pittman; nephews, Keith Marlar, Kevin Marlar, Derek Gardener, Neah Gardner, Shane Gardner, Mason Turner, Graham Pittman and Aaron Ready; sister, Dorothy Gandy; and brother, Jerry Gardner.Prentiss was born on August 3, 1936 in Richton, Mississippi. He moved to Alabama in 1957. He worked for the State Highway Department for 8 years then the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Department for 17 years.Prentiss was a member of Tuscaloosa Bible Methodist Church for many years. He was dearly loved by all of his family, friends and neighbors.Pallbearers will be Keith Marlar, Kevin Marlar, Derek Gardner, Bobby Liner, Nathan Brown and Roscoe Mills.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
