Robert Allen ""Big Al"" Owen, age 75, of Northport, Ala., died September 26, 2016. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Clayton and Lona Owen; brother, James ""Jim"" Owen; sisters, Joyce Traywick (Jimmy) and Carol Wingard (Walt); and granddaughter, Courtney Samantha Benton.Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Fields Owen; daughter, Terisa Darlene Sissy Phillips Benton (Andy); sons, Robert Owen, Jr. (Tammy), Jim Phillips (Denise) and Joe Clayton Owen; grandchildren, Josh Owen, Robert A. Owen III, Jeremy Owen, Ashley Owen, Justin Blake Phillips, Corbin Wilson Appleby Phillips, Alex Ross Benton and Clayton Owen; and great-grandchildren, John-Ross and five others.Big Al was a longterm salesman, founder and owner of Big Al's, Inc. and friend to all who knew him. Big Al was an avid hunter and fisherman. He went on many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. A few of the many exotic trips he made were to Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Louisiana, Alaska, Texas, Missouri and many other places.He enjoyed being with his family and friends at every opportunity. Most of all, he enjoyed the special time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Many times Paw Paw would cook steaks on the grill and have his family over to eat. Over the years, he would take his family of over 20 members to the beach for summer vacation.
