

Ruby S. Richardson, age 93, of Tuscaloosa, died January 24, 2018, at Crimson Village. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Melody Traylor and Rev. Dan Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T. J. Sullivan, Sr. and Rosilee Sullivan, husband, Dwight M. Richardson, Sr., her brother, T. J. Sullivan Jr, and special family friend Ralph Krup.
Ruby Grace Sullivan was born on February 11, 1924 in Choctaw County, AL, the eldest of four children. Upon graduation from high school at 17 she attended college in Montgomery and then went to work in Birmingham for the State of Alabama Labor Department supporting the war effort. While in Birmingham she met her future husband Dwight Richardson, Sr. and they were married on April 9, 1946.
Known to her children as “Mom” and to their children as “Mama Ruby”, she loved and was loved by her large and extended family. Mama Ruby’s survivors include her daughter, Anne Armstrong (Max); sons, Dwight "Sonny” Richardson, Jr. (Jan) and James "Jim" Richardson and sisters, Jean Jarvis of Mountain Home, AR and Lyn Lucas of Calera, AL. She is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses Susan; Tray (Dwight III) & Malia; Joey (Joseph, 1stSGT, USMC) & Chelsea; and Jill & Chuck; ten great-grandchildren Tanner, Addison, Harrison, Emmy, Thomas, Mckenzie, Luke, Rylan, Grayson, and Jacob; and one great-great grandchild, Cayden.
Pallbearers are 1stSGT Joseph Richardson, USMC; great-grandson Tanner Bosch, great-nephews Andrew & David Ricciardi, nephew Thomas Richardson, and great family friend James Jimerson.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Caring Days Adult Daycare, 943 31st St E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405 or First United Methodist Church, 800 Greensboro Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
