Services will be held at Heritage Chapel Monday May 3, 2021 at 10:00 am with Don Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be Monday May 3, 2021 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Heritage Chapel with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider directing. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Warren, by her parents Howard and Corinne
Harless, her brother in law David Larry Watkins, nephew Scott Watkins, and her sister Terry Harless.
She is survived by her sister, Glenda Watkins, nephew David Watkins (Carol), Stepson Skip Warren (Shay) of Birmingham, AL and Stepdaughter Kim Allen (Greg), four Step-Grandchildren, Justin Allen, Jackson Warren, Mason Allen, and Sam Warren. Her nieces and nephews she loved dearly-Allie, Tori, Sam, and Kylie Watkins, Carrington, Britton, and Peyton Watkins.
She was born in Tuscaloosa, graduated from Tuscaloosa High in 1960, graduated from Druid City Hospital School of Nursing, followed by a degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama. She then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she obtained her Masters in Adult Health Nursing and Teaching of Nursing. Her nursing career included Bryce Hospital, DCH Regional Medical, Adjunct with the University of Alabama Capstone of Nursing, and Nursing Educator at Shelton State Community College. She was active in the Alabama State Nurses Association, where she held several offices, and received the Cindajo Overton Outstanding Nurse Educator in 2008. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society.
She has been a member of the Soroptimist International of Tuscaloosa for several years. Most of all, she loved God and the family of Central Church of Christ.
Honorary pallbearers include Don and Charlotte Wheeler, Dick and Jane Boyd, Members of the Central Church, Sue Hollingsworth, Betty Brinyark, Kim Smith, and the Nursing Department of Shelton, and Dr. Stephen Browne.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Central Church of Christ, DCH Cancer Treatment Center, or Hospice of West Alabama.
